What these words mean
- Cartridge
A prefilled container of cannabis oil, most often sold in .5g, 1g, and 2g volumes, with a built-in heating element and mouthpiece. It attaches to a rechargeable battery that is sold separately. Most use the universal "510" screw thread, so one battery works with cartridges from many makers.
The battery heats the cartridge's heating element, turning the oil into an aerosolized vapor that you inhale. The oil inside a cartridge varies: distillate with added terpenes, live resin, live rosin, etc. The menu/product listing and lab report should state which type of extract the cartridge contains.
- Distillate + Botanical Terpenes
Distillate with terpenes added from plants other than cannabis, blended for flavor. Botanical terpenes are taken from plants other than cannabis, such as myrcene from hops or mango, limonene from citrus peel, linalool from lavender, and pinene from pine. They are blended to recreate the aroma and flavor of a cannabis strain.
- Indica-Hybrid
A plant bred from both indica-type and sativa-type parents. Menus use "Hybrid" for effects described as in between or mixed. The label is often narrowed to indica-dominant hybrid, sativa-dominant hybrid, or balanced ("50/50"). Any percentages given are the breeder's estimate from the plant's family tree, not a measured one.
After decades of crossbreeding, nearly all modern commercial strains are hybrids in the genetic sense, regardless of the label they carry. The label says more about how a product is positioned than about the plant. A listed lineage (the cross) is more specific, but a strain name doesn't guarantee chemistry either.
