RS 11 - Kief - OP
What these words mean
- Hash
Hash (also known as "hashish") is a concentrate made of the plant's resin glands, called trichomes, separated from the plant and gathered or pressed together. Trichomes are tiny, mushroom-shaped glands on the flower where the plant makes and stores cannabinoids and terpenes. The separation is mechanical (dry sifting, ice water, or hand rubbing), so it uses no chemical solvent.
- Kief/Dry Sift
Kief is the loose trichomes that fall off dried cannabis. It is the fine powder that collects in the bottom of a grinder. Dry sift is kief made on purpose: dried, often frozen, cannabis is gently rubbed or tumbled over fine mesh screens, and the resin passes through finer and finer screens, leaving plant particles behind. No water or solvent is used.
Quality depends on how much plant material remains: Unrefined kief is greenish and less potent than refined dry sift, which is blonde to tan, much stronger, and, at its best, reaches full-melt grade. Sprinkle kief and dry sift on flower, use them in infused pre-rolls, or press them into hash or rosin.
- Indica
On a menu, "Indica" signals the effects the seller expects: relaxing, sedating, felt more in the body, suited to evening. That expectation is tradition, not a measured property of the product.
