72 Hour THC Patch
What these words mean
- Transdermal Patch
An adhesive patch made to carry cannabinoids through the skin and into the bloodstream, so the effects are felt throughout the body. That separates it from most topicals, which stay where you apply them. Cannabinoids don't cross skin easily, so patches rely on added ingredients to help them through.
A patch releases its dose slowly over its wear time, commonly 8 to 12 hours, and avoids the digestive system and the liver's first pass. Because the dose reaches the bloodstream, a patch that contains THC can cause intoxicating effects. The label states the total milligrams and the wear time. How much actually reaches the blood depends on the formulation, and published human data on commercial cannabis patches are limited.
- Distillate
A crude cannabis oil that has undergone refinement to mostly one cannabinoid, usually THC or CBD. The plant's other compounds, such as polyphenols, flavonoids, and terpenes, are removed; terpenes or flavorings may be added back afterward.
